The "Book"list

*affiliate links included y'all*

Did y'all know that Goodwill sells books for less than $3 each?

On my most recent errand run, I decided to pay good ole Goodwill a visit to look at sweaters. My friend mentioned that she wanted to pick up a few books, so I followed behind her expecting to see old, ratty and torn up paperbacks. Much to my surprise I saw like new copies of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the Twilight saga, and a few books from The Hunger Games' series.

Not one to pass on the opportunity for some new reads, I looked picked up the following:

I Don't Know How She Does It
by Allison Pearson

The Starter Wife
by Gigi Levangie Grazer
The Silent Wife: A Novel
by A.S.A Harrison

The Matchbreaker
 by Chris Manbry

Amazon has always been my favorite places to get books because I know I can get a really good deal. Now, I have Amazon AND Goodwill.
I'm a happy girl.

I plan on getting started on one of these bad boys this week while I wait for my cable and internet to get set up (oh, the agony!). Have any of y'all read these? What's your take on them?

Confession Session

The other day, sweet Natasha posted a confession session and I just loved it.
So I decided to let her know that it was a wonderful post and that she may see it again... on my page (thanks girl!)

I confess that:

1// I overthink everything in relationships. I am way too analytical for my own good - and once the wheels start turning, I can't stop myself. This usually results in a bunch of "what if" scenarios with one of my girlfriends and actively reminding myself to chill out and go to bed.

2// I like to be alone. I'm not really sure that's a secret, but I've lived alone for the past two years and I love it. I like my space, my freedom, rearranging furniture on a whim, and having a private dance party without having to worry about bothering a roommate.

3// On a similar note, people who live alone develop weird living habits - I am no exception. For instance, if I make a big salad in a big bowl, I eat the salad out of the big bowl. Saves dishes. I can listen to the same 5 songs on repeat for days without getting annoyed. On occasion, carrots and ranch, chips and ice cream have all been considered "dinner."

4// Last week I went walking/running every morning and on Sunday I started a 21 Day Total Fit Challenge. It is kicking. my. butt. However, I've already lost an inch off my waist and can feel everything getting tighter and more firm. Woohoo for progress.

5// Much of my time lately has been spent catching up on way too many seasons of every show under the sun - Grey's, Sex and the City, The Blacklist and most recently Game of Thrones.

6// This diet lifestyle change includes no fried foods, no fast food, drinking half my weight in ounces in water, and no alcohol. It's definitely not impossible, but the no alcohol is killing me every time I get asked out for margaritas.

7// I really and truly hate when people don't follow through on what they say they will do - men and women. Be a person of your word. If you say you're going to call, call. If you say you're going to pick something up, pick it up. If you made plans with me and something comes up, let me know. I'm very understanding when I know, but when I'm left in the dark, things get ugly.

8// My friend told me I was crazy on Sunday. Partially because of the overthinking thing (see #1) and partially because it's just true. Maybe...

9// I could watch Pride and Prejudice and Moulin Rouge 78351x a day and not get tired of them.

10// A ridiculous number of people I went to college with - and even high school - are getting married and having babies and I'm still over here like "What kinda music do you like?"

What do you confess? Surprised by any of these confessions?

Single Girl Bucket List

Since I am single this summer (which quite honestly is how it has been every summer... ), I want to make the most of this time before starting my new career.
I figured what better way to achieve this than by making a bucket list!
This way I can keep track of my progress and I promise that I will try my hardest to get as much done on this list as possible.
So here goes.

Take a spontaneous road trip
Hike somewhere new (Panther Creek Falls, Tallulah Gorge anyone?)
Go out in Buckhead
Visit the World of Coke, Ga Aquarium, and Ferris Wheel
Go sky diving
Ride the new Atlanta streetcar
Shoot the Hooch
Go to a Braves game
Eat my way through Food Truck Park
Visit a friend in Seattle
Sign a lease for my own apartment
Visit the Civil Rights Museum
Go to the movies by myself
Learn one of Beyonce's many choreography numbers in its entirety
Slip-n-slide
Play on a playground
Climb a tree
Clean out my old bedroom
Make s'mores
Visit friends in New Orleans
Watch dumb reality TV shows without feeling guilty
Go on a date with someone outside my norm
Date myself
Watch a meteor shower
See giraffes
Craft
Go out and stay out until the sun rises
Buy myself flowers

Anything else y'all can think of to add? What are your plans for the summer?

How To: Survive Allergy Season

The end of allergy is upon us in Atlanta as pollen levels are dropping!
*insert wild hollering and cheering*

Which can only mean one of two things: you survived another year without sneezing your brains out (yay you!) or you didn't.

If you're like me, you were the latter and survived - until the end.

This weekend, and just this weekend alone, has wreaked enough havoc on me to the point where I'm ready to never see pollen again in life. Talkin about watery eyes, stuffed/runny nose and the most annoying tickle/sore throat. But if you're from where the players play, it's just something you have to deal with.
So to get you through this allergy laden, yet beautiful first week of May, I present to you a survival guide:

DO stock up on tissues.
These will become your best friend. By your side through thick and thin (literally).

DON'T go outside.
Ever.
Do I really need to explain this? Pollen = particles that attack the nose, throat and eyes. Just don't do it. Or do it and let me know how that goes.

DO take allergy meds.
aka lifesavers!

DON'T roll down your windows to "enjoy the breeze."
You will regret this decision. As you're soaking up the sun and smells of almost summer, your nose is soaking up the pollen, and a sneeze attack will come.
Driving and sneezing = dangerous.

DO appreciate the beauty of nature...
From the safety and comfort of the inside of your home.

DON'T rub your eyes.
You're just making the grainy granules become one with your eyeball.
Not fun.
Not cute.

DON'T look into the face of a pollen storm.
Wind + visible pollen particles = death by yellow wind.

So maybe these are from personal experience, maybe not... but you have been warned.
IF YOU CAN SEE THE POLLEN IN THE AIR, WHY ARE YOU OUTSIDE?!

Tell me, any of y'all have allergies? How have they affected your life this spring?

Venture into the Unknown

I'm graduating from nursing school on May 8th.
I should be a private investigator because I'm really good about finding stuff out about people.
Three fur babies - a full bred German Shepherd, a German Shepherd mix and a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
You'll never catch me in open toe shoes if my toes aren't painted.
I always take the second of everything; second shirt off the rack, second item on a shelf... Never the first.
I'm very random.
My all time favorite movies include Pride and Prejudice and Moulin Rouge.
I have three older siblings.
Blunt is my third language, sarcasm my second.
Traveling the world would be the best dream come true for me.

You Should Know

That if we're gonna be best friends:

I don't eat seafood. And yes, this is me in seafood restaurants that don't serve anything else.

I LOVE giraffes and elephants.

I'm overly sarcastic.

I'm overly dramatic. I mean... you saw the use of three gifs for the sarcasm so clearly this is fitting...

I like to have text conversations in gifs and emojis.

I give a lot of advice.
You will come to me for the advice.
And I will deliver.
And you will love me.

#speechlesssunday

Usually a #BFTP post would be here, but I'm skipping this week.

I've had so much on my mind and on my heart lately.
I have no idea how to convey anything I want to say and I have had long moments when I don't really feel like myself.

Thus hopefully explaining the lack of posts over the past two (?) weeks.

Today, I leave you with some quotes that caught my eye on the beloved Pinterest.

Under the Weather

Hey y'all!
I don't want you to think I've forgotten about you, I promise I haven't.
I've been sick with only God knows what and though I am a future nurse, I refuse to go to the doctor (yeah yeah, I know…).

All I know is that you don't want what I have and since I am 1000% sure it's a virus, I don't want to risk having it infect y'all ;-) (computer pun… lame. it's the illness talking).

So, I'm going to leave y'all with the one thing I want for Christmas and the one thing the domestic woman in me wants for Christmas, can you figure out which is which?

5 Randoms

1. I don't get dressed if I don't have to leave the house. In fact, I change into sweatpants and a giant t-shirt as soon as I walk in my door.

2. Moosetracks ice cream. I shouldn't even HAVE to elaborate on how amazing this flavor is or how to be my friend you need to know that this is my favorite flavor (in addition to my deep love for giraffes and Trolli Sour Gummy Worms).

3. I REFUSE touch my thermostat until 8 or 9 PM. So it's either bundle up or take it all off because I'm trying to save as much moolah as possible over here. Oh and don't ever touch my thermostat.

4. Nursing school is literally the hardest, most time consuming, and only thing going on in my life right now. But everyday I love it a little more and it continues to get more interesting. I learned how to draw up and give meds last week!

5. My friend Dakota's Bridal Shower was this past Sunday and it was a lot of fun! Y'all may or may not remember, but I'm a bridesmaid in her June wedding, so I helped plan a little bit of it. The only thing I will say is that it was homecoming this past weekend so getting a bunch of the girls together Sunday after a crazy weekend wasn't the easiest thing to do.

Below are some pictures of homecoming via other people's phones because I didn't take any pictures this weekend. Soooo you'll have to wait to get the shower pictures and the good homecoming pictures lol
