Confession Session

The other day, sweet Natasha posted a confession session and I just loved it.
So I decided to let her know that it was a wonderful post and that she may see it again... on my page (thanks girl!)

I confess that:

1// I overthink everything in relationships. I am way too analytical for my own good - and once the wheels start turning, I can't stop myself. This usually results in a bunch of "what if" scenarios with one of my girlfriends and actively reminding myself to chill out and go to bed.

2// I like to be alone. I'm not really sure that's a secret, but I've lived alone for the past two years and I love it. I like my space, my freedom, rearranging furniture on a whim, and having a private dance party without having to worry about bothering a roommate.

3// On a similar note, people who live alone develop weird living habits - I am no exception. For instance, if I make a big salad in a big bowl, I eat the salad out of the big bowl. Saves dishes. I can listen to the same 5 songs on repeat for days without getting annoyed. On occasion, carrots and ranch, chips and ice cream have all been considered "dinner."

4// Last week I went walking/running every morning and on Sunday I started a 21 Day Total Fit Challenge. It is kicking. my. butt. However, I've already lost an inch off my waist and can feel everything getting tighter and more firm. Woohoo for progress.

5// Much of my time lately has been spent catching up on way too many seasons of every show under the sun - Grey's, Sex and the City, The Blacklist and most recently Game of Thrones.

6// This diet lifestyle change includes no fried foods, no fast food, drinking half my weight in ounces in water, and no alcohol. It's definitely not impossible, but the no alcohol is killing me every time I get asked out for margaritas.

7// I really and truly hate when people don't follow through on what they say they will do - men and women. Be a person of your word. If you say you're going to call, call. If you say you're going to pick something up, pick it up. If you made plans with me and something comes up, let me know. I'm very understanding when I know, but when I'm left in the dark, things get ugly.

8// My friend told me I was crazy on Sunday. Partially because of the overthinking thing (see #1) and partially because it's just true. Maybe...

9// I could watch Pride and Prejudice and Moulin Rouge 78351x a day and not get tired of them.

10// A ridiculous number of people I went to college with - and even high school - are getting married and having babies and I'm still over here like "What kinda music do you like?"

What do you confess? Surprised by any of these confessions?

Five on Friday

Thanks to Darci, Natasha, April and Christina for bringing us Five on Friday every week!

Last week was one of the most hectic weeks I've had in a while, so let's go ahead and jump right in, shall we?

[one]

Tuesday, June 9th
I took the NCLEX. After 75 questions, it was over and feeling completely defeated and numb, I made my way back to my parents' house repeating the same thing to anyone who asked, "WHAT did I just take and did I even go to nursing school?!"

Wednesday, June 10th
I found out that I was officially a registered nurse. HOW?! I'm honestly still in shock and numb to that fact that I have RN behind my name, but I am so so blessed by God's plan.

I DO BBQ
Mom threw an I DO BBQ rehearsal dinner for the wedding Friday, June 12 and it was perfect! My sister and her groom-to-be were surrounded by very close friends and family and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely! I was such a bad blogger that night, I didn't take any pictures... But the picture above is what the invitation was similar to.

My sister's wedding was this past Saturday.
Y'all... absolutely beautiful. It was an intimate wedding of about 30 people, no bridal party, but my niece was the flower girl and her brothers were the ring bearers. She got married at our local church where my grandma was very well known and loved by our favorite monsignor.
Her reception was done so beautifully as well - we all laughed and danced and drank to our hearts content. My father made a speech for the ages, as did my sister's husband, and I don't think it could have been any more perfect. But then again, maybe I'm biased.

Now that the most hectic part of my summer is over, time to go apartment hunting...

How to Wear: Baseball Cap

* This is not a sponsored post; I was not compensated for it and all opinions are my own*

If you're anything like me, you have a love/hate relationship with hats.
How to wear one, where to wear one, what to wear with one... the questions are endless but today I'll try and offer what I would do with a little help from Fanatics.

Fanatics has some amazing sports gear for everyone - men, women and children alike. For this challenge in particular, I needed to create a "sporty luxe" look that I could wear to a baseball game, BBQ, picnic - wherever hats are acceptable this summer - and I think I did just that:

This outfit is quite patriotic without screaming "America!," so you could wear it to a ball game, the park, the beach or even to a Fourth of July cookout! I chose this hat from the Cubs hats page, not because they're my favorite team, but because the colors work wonderfully for almost any outfit I have in my closet - hello, it's blue! Honestly though, any hat from Fanatics will do!

My basic guidelines for wearing hats are to treat them just like any other accessory - either go big and bold on the hat with a toned down outfit, or do a neutral hat with a fun outfit!

(I really thought about throwing a camo shirt and some jean shorts up there in that picture, but I didn't want to explain my love of camo to y'all just yet.)

Whether you're looking for a hat to complete your outfit or an outfit to complete your hat, you should definitely check out Fanatics to see all the goodies they have to offer!

Post Grad Vacation

After graduation, a friend of mine invited me to a mini getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth.

I decided the best time to go would be after my licensure exam review in mid-May, and after I helped with some wedding planning/festivities. I packed my things up one morning and took off - alone - to Orlando.

The night I got in, we ate dinner and caught up before calling it an early night. After all, we had to get to the Magic Kingdom in the morning.

(Note - While I can't remember what we did each specific night, I know we went to the resorts to grab a drink after dinner a few nights, other nights we went out to eat, and the few days I was stranded - more on that later - we made dinner and watched romance movies, Murder She Wrote, or Sex and the City)

Since the last time I was at Disney World, SO MUCH has changed! From the rides to the fact that you can schedule your fast pass time online, I was just so surprised.

We arrived around 10:30 AM for our first scheduled ride of the day - Space Mountain.
After being thrown around in the dark for a bit, we reemerged to ride Carousel of Progress and see Monster's Inc, Laugh Floor.

After grabbing a delicious frozen raspberry lemonade, we hopped in line for Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. Such a cute ride!

After the Little Mermaid, we wandered around Fantasyland for a little bit before getting in line for the Haunted Mansion. Due to people trying to take pictures and standing up during the ride, we got trapped in the middle of the ride a few times, but overall I love Haunted Mansion. Such awesome effects! Plus I learned some behind the scenes info, which made it even more cool!

Lunch was around 1:30PM at Liberty Tree Tavern, where all I can say is yum yum yum. After we ate, we looked around the Christmas Shoppe and then grabbed a prime spot for the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Though I was sweating like crazy for almost half an hour, it was well worth it!

Once the parade ended, we rode the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, watched some of Dream Along with Mickey at Cinderella's Castle and lastly for our day, we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

The next day, I visited my friend at work and got a little tour - a behind the scenes if you will - of where all of the magic happens (don't worry I won't ruin it for you)!!

The following day, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom. (YAY ANIMALS!)
First up, we went on the Kilimanjaro Safari where I got to see all of my favorite animals.

After the safari, we had lunch at Pizzaffari and then went to watch Festival of the Lion King. My friend was worried I wouldn't like it since I've seen Lion King on Broadway, but it was absolutely adorable and the singing was amazing.
We then made our way over to Expedition Everest.

Y'all.
Let me just tell you how much I did not want to go on this ride. Yes, I'll admit it - I hate roller coasters but after all was said and done, it was a ton of fun!

That night we went out to watch Bob at Port Orleans Riverside and I can tell why he's a staple there - the guy is funny... especially the more you drink. I definitely advise you to go see him if you're in Disney on a Friday or Saturday night.

The day I was supposed to leave, I was about 55 miles away from my friend's house when my car broke down. Thankfully, she came to pick me up and my car was brought to a dealership in Orlando.

The next morning when I got a phone call saying that my key wouldn't go into the ignition, and since this wasn't an issue for me when I last saw my car, I decided to pop up at the dealership and see what was really going on.

Unfortunately, my car had been broken into during the night.

There is so much that I am thankful for, despite all that happened, but it really made for a frustrating few days and I struggled to understand what God had in store for me.

Overall, I had an awesome post grad vacation and I am so thankful for my friends and their hospitality. I knew I had overstayed my welcome (albeit not my fault), they never complained once or made me feel like I was unwelcome.

Can't wait to see what else this summer has in store for me!

Single Girl Bucket List

Since I am single this summer (which quite honestly is how it has been every summer... ), I want to make the most of this time before starting my new career.
I figured what better way to achieve this than by making a bucket list!
This way I can keep track of my progress and I promise that I will try my hardest to get as much done on this list as possible.
So here goes.

Take a spontaneous road trip
Hike somewhere new (Panther Creek Falls, Tallulah Gorge anyone?)
Go out in Buckhead
Visit the World of Coke, Ga Aquarium, and Ferris Wheel
Go sky diving
Ride the new Atlanta streetcar
Shoot the Hooch
Go to a Braves game
Eat my way through Food Truck Park
Visit a friend in Seattle
Sign a lease for my own apartment
Visit the Civil Rights Museum
Go to the movies by myself
Learn one of Beyonce's many choreography numbers in its entirety
Slip-n-slide
Play on a playground
Climb a tree
Clean out my old bedroom
Make s'mores
Visit friends in New Orleans
Watch dumb reality TV shows without feeling guilty
Go on a date with someone outside my norm
Date myself
Watch a meteor shower
See giraffes
Craft
Go out and stay out until the sun rises
Buy myself flowers

Anything else y'all can think of to add? What are your plans for the summer?
